Fun Weekend

We had such a FUN weekend! My friend Ashley and her boyfriend Cliff came in town to stay with us. They came in town Friday night and we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Happy Mexican. 

Saturday we went downtown to the Fed Ex Forum to watch the Tigers play. Unfortunately, it was a sad loss. After the game, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and the bowling alley. We haven't bowled in a couple years and it was so much fun!

Saturday night we hung out at home and since it was not too cold, we sat outside around the fire pit.

Sunday, we just hung around the house and relaxed. I was so sad when they left but we're already planning to see them very soon!

Today Dustin and I are both off work. It's nice to have an extra day to recoup!

Five on Friday

Y'all, I'm on a roll! I blogged 3 times this week! Do you think I can keep it up??

(1) Today I have parent conferences from 10-6. I like this much better than teaching all day and trying to do conferences after school. But, I don't like staying until 6 on a Friday. At least I have Monday off though!

(2) Valentine's Day was a success! We actually really enjoyed our date night in! I cooked brown sugar glazed salmon (salmon is Dustin's favorite), parmesan roasted red potatoes, and green bean casserole.

We used our pretty Mikasa Cheers glasses and had classical music playing in the background. Then we had chocolate cream pie for dessert which was heavenly with the Cabernet he bought me. I hate that I didn't get food pictures!

 We don't really do Valentine's gifts but Dustin bought me flowers and a bottle of Cabernet.

 I got him a new beer he's been wanting to try, Fat Tire Dig. It's hard to see, but the envelope says I really "dig" you. Ha!

 I decided to wear the dress I bought for our original date plans anyway. Why not?

(3) Meal planning and grocery shopping is so easy now with Ziplist. I found out about this gem from my blog friend Stephanie. I use the website to meal plan and it uploads a categorized grocery list right onto the app on my phone. Genius!

(4) We got a teeny bit of snow and sleet on Monday. Other than that, we've had one half decent snow this winter. I had 9 snow days last year and only 1 this year. Boo! If it's not gonna snow and give me a snow day off, then BRING ON SPRING!

(5) One of my best friends, Ashley, is coming in town to stay with us this weekend!! We are soooo excited!!

Five on Friday

1.Wednesday we did Christmas with mom's side of the family. We played dirty santa with funny gifts. Sadly, Dustin and I forgot to bring our gifts so we didn't play. But, I enjoyed watching and laughing!

2. We also got together with our friends Kenneth and Beth this week to do Christmas with them. I always enjoy hanging out with my little buddy Neal!

3. Earlier this week we were invited to Dustin's brother's house to do Christmas with them. It was great to see the kids. It's been a while. I think Dustin is a little smitten with our youngest nephew Jaxson! Cute, huh?

4. This is the last week of the hunting season. Although I know Dustin is sad to see it go, I'll be happy to get my husband back. 

5. This is the first year that Dustin and I do not have big New Year's Eve plans. We just don't feel like going out and honestly I'm just too exhausted. This has been a very busy Christmas!

Five on Friday

1.This has been a whirlwind of a week. Dustin's cousin passed away Sunday night. We've been with family for most of the week. 

2. This past Sunday, we had our first of many football watch parties. The weather was perfect for a little 4 wheeler riding too!

3. Since it seems that Fall is coming very soon, I've been trolling the Internet for new cute boots. Boots are my favorite thing about cool weather and of course I need a few new pairs!

4. Yesterday was cowboy/ cowgirl day for letter C. How stinking adorable are these little guys?

5. This weekend, we're going to the Millington Air Force Base to see the Blue Angels show. This is a tradition for Dustin and I and this year friends are coming too! I just hope the weather cooperates.

Five on Friday

I feel like all I ever blog is What I'm Loving Wednesday and Five on Friday. But I enjoy telling you what I'm loving and Friday is the perfect day to post my random thoughts from the week. 

{one}

I'm loving that after all the rain, storms, and flooding, it' been beautiful and sunny the past 2 days. Praise God for the sunshine after the storm!

{two}

I'm beyond heartbroken about all the devastation in Alabama and in the South in general from these storms. It's horrific to watch the videos and see the pictures. Please continue to pray for these people. 

{three}

My best friend is moving away from me. I can say that now because she posted it on her blog. I am not happy about this but they have such awesome things in store for them so I guess I can let it slide. No, she's not going far, but it's further than 2 minutes like I'm used to. :(

{four}

I'm on my own for the next few days. Dustin is going on a fishing trip with my dad and brother. I'm very excited that he's going, but I will miss him. I plan to have some me time and some girl time! Who wants to hang out tomorrow??

{five}

Tonight, I'm going to Bahama Breeze with my mom, aunt, and cousin! Love that place!

Promise

1. TGIF!! This has been the longest week ever! Coming back to work after being off for a week for Spring break was hard. My preschoolers were definitely refreshed from the break while I was exhausted! On top of that, we couldn't go outside any! I think we'll be able to today. Thank God!

Here's a little Friday pick me up. Shasta is giving away a $100 Forever 21 gift card and $100 gas card!!

2. Last night I made one of our favorites, taco pie. A few people on Twitter asked me to post the recipe. It's one I got from my mom. I think some people make a version of this called frito pie. It's so easy and yummy!

Taco Pie


ingredients:
-crescent rolls
-1 lb ground beef
-package of taco seasoning
-fritos
-sour cream
-shredded cheddar cheese

directions:
-line round casserole dish with crescent rolls
-sprinkle fritos on top of crescent rolls
-brown ground beef and add taco seasoning
-pour ground beef over fritos
-spread sour cream over meat
-sprinkle with shredded cheese
-add more fritos to the top

cook at 350 for 20 minuntes

3. Those super cute wedges I posted Wednesday came yesterday. And, guess what. They're huge! Too long and crazy wide. I'm so upset! :(

4. I'm going to an 80's themed party this weekend. I'm excited about dressing crazy. Too bad I got rid of my crimper when I moved!

5. And, I saved the best for last....

Today is my momma's birthday!!

Five on Friday

I've been sick the past two days with sinus mess. I slept most of the day yesterday. I'm ready to feel like myself again.

{two} 

Yesterday when I was so pitiful, my sweet friend Kelly brought me some Sonic treats. I was so surprised and so grateful. Sometimes, food and sleep heal you better than any medicine can!

Saturday I'm going to a baby shower for a sweet friend that I haven't seen in a while. I can't wait to catch up with old friends!

Dustin will be gone all next week for work. It will be so weird being here alone. Who wants to come keep me company?

{five}

This week I had my wedding rings rhodium plated and soldered together. Since they were not soldered together before, they were rubbing each other and causing scratches and dulling the white gold. Lucky for me, Dustin bought them from a place that gives me a lifetime warranty that covers everything. I'm obsessed with how gorgeous they look now!

Five on Friday

1. If Spring doesn't hurry up and get here, I might go crazy. I'm one of those people that needs the sunshine. Dreary, cold weather gets old quick! I like staying home for all these snow days, but I would much rather enjoy a warm, sunny day. 

2. My friend Stephanie had her sweet baby girl Shelby last night. I'm going to see them today and I'm so excited to kiss those sweet cheeks!

3. I have a girl's sushi date tonight! I'm trying a new place out and can't wait!

4. Tomorrow, is this handsome boy's 1st birthday party! Isn't he the cutest little guy ever?

5. Dustin and I have decided on our Valentine's day gift to each other. It's definitely not your usual Valentine's gift, but we're super excited. More on that later!

After a one hour early dismissal yesterday, we are out today for snow. I'm not really a huge fan of the cold and snow, but I do like an unexpected day off every once in a while. :)

I'm hanging out with these 2 lovely ladies tonight. We're having a girl's night in and I'll be so ready to get out of the house by then.

{three}

Everyone that knows us, knows that Dustin and I have date night usually every single Friday night. Well now, he is in school on Friday nights. We will still probably go out some Saturday nights but now we've started doing date night in on Thursday nights. Last week and this week, we rented a movie, cooked dinner, and hung out. It's nice!

The first was very intense, but amazing! The second, was down right retarded. We laughed the entire time, but I swear I haven't seen a movie that dumb in a while! But, you gotta love Will Ferrell!

I'm really wanting a Kindle! I wish I would have known to want one before Christmas. Either way, I love to read and so I think I need one!
