Gossip

I've mentioned this before, but I'm currently reading the Lysa Terkeurst book, Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl. It is amazing!

Anyway, I had to share this convicting quote from her as well as a few reminders she gives about what the Bible teaches about gossip.

"What comes out of our mouths is a telltale sign of who we are, who we serve, and what we truly believe."

There are 3 crucial rules the Bible teaches us about our words.

1. Guard your tongue to keep out of trouble.
"He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity." Proverbs 21:23

2. Limit your words to be wise.
"When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise." Proverbs 10:19
Ask yourself three thing before speaking: Are my words kind? Are they true? Are the necessary?

3. Use your words to validate your relationship with the Lord, not negate it.
"If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless." James 1:26

Imagine the number of relationship issues that would simply vanish if we were all more committed to loving words!

What I've been reading about

Do you ever feel like the closer you get to God, the harder Satan works to get to you? I've had to have some serious talks with God about this lately. Sometimes, I feel so tested and it's so hard.

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw close to God and He will draw close to you." James 4:7-8

Does it seem like sometimes certain situations are placed in front of you just solely to test you? But, God has a plan. He has placed you exactly where you are according to his purpose.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." "Romans 8:28

Do you ever feel like you worry, worry, worry about things or people to the point where you make yourself sick? Worrying does not add one single minute to your life. Why waste such precious time?

"The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies." Psalm 118:6-7

And friends, people are only human. They will hurt you, and you will hurt others. It's how you choose to handle the situation that counts.

"Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable." Romans 12:17

These are just a few of the things I have learned and that have had such an impact on my life right now. I just finished Lysa Terkeurst's book "What happens When Women Walk in Faith". I definitely recommend reading it to anyone who is learning what it means to leave your worries behind  and trust in him completely.

My Bible study group is starting Lysa's new book "Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl" tomorrow night. I've read the first 3 chapters already and can tell this is going to be a favorite as well.

"Create in me a pure heart oh God and renew a steadfast spirit in me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you." Psalm 51:10-13
 *LOVE these 4 verses*

Yesterday Jennifer and I went bridesmaid dress shopping. We found a couple of possibilities. Of course, we are going to check some more stores before I make the final decision. We got so much accomplished yesterday. Jennifer  has been the biggest help!

Also, sweet Stephanie has been giving me so many things that I can use for the wedding. She has been very generous to me and I appreciate all her help as well. Her craftiness has been very inspirational!

Tomorrow my bible study group starts back up. We have our Spring semester kick off at the church tomorrow night. Our new book is "Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl" by Lysa Terkeurst. Her books are amazing!

Well I go back to work tomorrow after a great 4 day weekend. They closed schools Thursday and Friday due to icy driving conditions. I can't wait to hear all the extravagant stories my preschoolers will have about what they did on the snow days!!

Have a good week!!

P.S.- Go check out this super fun giveaway !!
