Our cruise is creeping up on us and we're getting very excited! The boat leaves from New Orleans. I have never been to New Orleans, so we've decided to go down a day early. Since I'll only be spending one day in New Orleans, I wanna know where to go!
What should I not miss?
Where are the best places to eat?

Wow...if your only there for one day, you will just get a taste of all that New Orleans has to offer. Where are you staying? My top things to do in New Orleans are: shopping on Magazine St., doing a ghost tour, eating at Cafe Du Monde, watch the street performers at Jackson Square, listen to some jazz on Bourbon St., St. Louis Cemetery #1 for the neat graves of voodoo people. I like the following places for food: Cafe du Monde and Crescent City Brewhouse. Have fun!! Where are you going on your cruise?

Visit the French Quarter and eat at the Gumbo Shop while you are there!!
I've only been through New Orleans once. I say French Quarter.

You MUST eat at Cafe Du Monde! So much to do in New Orleans! We went there on our honeymoon and that wasn't even enough time to do everything!
I'll echo the other answers - you must have a beignet at Cafe du Monde. It's what signals New Orleans to me. Have so much fun!!!
